“I love” boats

&

Boats in a harbor are one of my favorite places to visit. The smell of water with the boats gently rocking in place frees my mind from the worries of my life. Just now, in my travels to my office, I saw two boats in driveways waiting to find water. It brought back to me how much I enjoy seeing them in a harbor.

This got me thinking that the owners of the boats I just saw in the driveway love their boats. They tow them, place them in the water, enjoy them, take them out of the water, and store them in the winter. (That’s a lot of work!)

But I just said that I love boats. Seeing them in the harbor.

Recently, I had an opportunity to take an afternoon tour on a boat in the San Diego harbor. The operators of the boat gave two tours a day through most of the year. They enjoyed their freedom from a 9 to 5 job and enjoyed the fresh air and the new friends they regularly met. They loved their boat and would not trade it for anything in the world.

But I just said that I love boats. Seeing them in the harbor.

Boats come in all shapes and sizes. Someone had to design them. One or two motors. Flat bottom or speedboat. With or without a sail. Someone spent hours designing and testing their design before going to production. They too loved boats. Their engineering, power, and style.

But I just said that I love boats. Seeing them in the harbor.

You see, there are many aspects to many things for us to marvel, enjoy and love. Boats are my simple example to show this.

Think of boats to give you the patience to listen more closely to begin to understand someone better. Both of you may love something but not quite in the same way. They may share a love of something but will highlight aspects that you may never have seen. Enjoy this journey for it could be filled with both surprise and enjoyment!
