One of the joys of life that I have discovered, in the last few years, is the newness I see the next time we meet. You will surprise me, in some way, no matter how many times we’ve been together.
Stranger, spouse, co-worker, friend, relative, significant other, or associate. It does not matter who you are.
The newness that I see demands that we both pay attention. To suspend all of our digital distractions as well as our many worries to see and hear what each of us seek and share.
To forget the habit of our past conversations and listen as if everything is new. Our presence, while together, builds value with each word that we choose to use.
Today it may be your agenda. Next time it might be mine.
Regardless of the outcome, it’s the surprise that kindles the newness in everything we seek. Time steps out of the way each time we create connection. The joy appears openly while our hearts and minds speak.
It’s simple and so satisfying that I anxiously wait for the next time we meet.
