Amidst the crowd there are no titles.
No status symbols for others to see that define our lives.
No tears can be found in the streets on this day.
Only faces, smiles, laughter, and joy.
It’s a time to be ourselves at a fest we chose to see.

Good food, music and a chance to shop.
In shorts & sun, where time seems to stop.
Not a vacation but merely a short rest.
We’re too busy talking to see what is best.

Could it really be that all of us are not meant to flounder?
We now connect with the stuff and things around us that call
It’s feels like a dream that someday I might want to recall.
.
What matters most is not what we have or what we compare
It’s simply being a part of life, around those that share.
What we do means nothing at a time like this
It’s the richness of the experience that we will so desperately miss.
